Hands on the Future Kenya Skills Show at KICC, Nairobi.
Kenya’s Largest Interactive Skills and Careers Exhibition is an annual national event organized by TVETA under the ministry of education. The main aim of the event is to provide an opportunity to the young people in TVET institutions to show case their innovative ideas to annul the common stereotypical belief that it is failures who go to TVET institutions.
We had an opportunity to participate in the event held at K.I.C.C from 8th – 10th February, 2019. Our innovation came from the welding and fabrication department of a project demonstrating how to operate a locally made metal bender. The uniqueness of the tool is that in normal circumstances, the fabricators have been using a modernized and electric metal bender. but with our new tool, it proves economical as it is easy to access and use by most local people.
We were also able to go round in other stands to see what other institutions are doing and learn from their innovations. This was a very good chance for us as an institution as it gave us the necessary exposure.
